Dark Spirit is an allegory of the greed and lust for power driving the events of the Hundred Years’ War. It is a layered account of obsession, passionate love, royal treachery, political intrigue, betrayal and revenge.
The setting is Provence and England in 1348. The Black Death, a cataclysmic event that decimated half the population of Europe, strikes as England and France are locked in a vicious war over the right to rule France.
The novel opens on the morning Aveline de Nevers, the 18-year-old heroine, is sent to a convent for refusing to marry the man her parents have chosen. Her lover, Guillaume de Bedillac, rescues her from her guards, and they escape to a mountain village north of Avignon.
The story follows the fortunes of Aveline and Guillaume as they struggle to survive the plague and the incursions of English troops.

May the website for Dark Spirit elicit a bright response, followed by a contract and publication, causing a tsunami of kudos to overwhelm you. I haven’t read Dark Spirit yet, but will get to it, prompted by the description. Wishing you all the best Valentina.
